Offer Description
An international selection call is open for the hiring of one Senior Technician, under an uncertain-term employment contract, full-time, to meet a temporary need associated with the implementation of the project “BioMoinho: integration of Hydraulic Heritage in River Restoration and Biodiversity Conservation”, with an expected duration of 24 months, with the contract remaining in force for the time necessary to carry out the project activities, under the terms of Articles 140 et seq. of the Labour Code.
The project is funded by the Belmiro de Azevedo Foundation, through national funds, with the reference 2026-33, and takes place at Associação BIOPOLIS, in partnership with the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto – Nuno Portas Study Centre (FAUP-CENP) and the Mértola Biological Station. This notice is intended to fill one (1) position, with the reference BIOPOLIS 2026-33.

Skills/Qualifications
National, foreign and stateless citizens who hold a master’s degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture or other scientific and technical areas considered relevant to the objectives of the project may apply to this call.
Candidates with academic training or professional experience demonstrating suitability for the duties to be performed will also be admitted, namely in the fields of architectural survey, heritage inventory, landscape analysis, intervention in built heritage, territorial enhancement, riparian ecosystems, nature-based solutions or scientific and heritage communication.
Candidates holding academic degrees awarded by foreign higher education institutions must prove the respective recognition, under the terms of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of 16 August, in its current wording, by the date of signing the contract.
Specific Requirements
Specific requirements: In addition to the general requirements defined in the previous point, the following specific requirements will be valued:
- Motivation to collaborate on the BioMoinho project, contributing to the inventory, surveying, study, and valorisation of traditional hydraulic heritage, cultural landscapes, and riparian ecosystems of the Guadiana Valley;
- Interest or experience, academic or professional, in one or more of the following areas: architectural heritage, traditional architecture, landscape architecture, cultural landscapes, rural heritage, traditional hydraulic systems, river restoration, nature conservation, territorial planning, or environmental and heritage valorisation;
- Experience in fieldwork, architectural surveying, heritage inventory, landscape reading, and the collection of graphic, photographic, cartographic, documentary, or oral information;
- Practice or interest in built heritage intervention projects, valorisation of cultural landscapes, rehabilitation of traditional structures, territorial design, qualification of riparian spaces, or nature-based solutions;
- Ability to produce, organize, and interpret graphic and technical information, including computer-aided design, cartography, image processing, graphic editing, technical reports, and communication materials;
- Practice and mastery of 2D and/or 3D computer-aided design digital tools, cartography, mapping, text editing, image processing, and page layout, namely AutoCAD, Archicad, QGIS, Google Earth/Maps, Word, Excel, InDesign, Photoshop, or equivalent software;
- Predisposition to work in an interdisciplinary team, articulating knowledge of architecture, landscape architecture, biology, ecology, engineering, archaeology, history, heritage, design, and other relevant areas for the project;
- Availability to carry out fieldwork in the Guadiana Valley, stay temporarily in Mértola, and travel to archives, public entities, municipalities, study sites, and working meetings in Alentejo and Porto;
- Category B driving licence. Driving experience in rural areas or with off-road vehicles will be valued, when applicable to fieldwork needs;
- Fluency in Portuguese and good knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of Spanish and/or French will be valued;
- Sense of responsibility, autonomy, organizational capacity, collaborative spirit, and aptitude to represent the employing entity in meetings, technical visits, and scientific, cultural, or institutional presentations;
- Availability to collaborate in the organization of scientific, cultural, and heritage dissemination activities, including guided tours, exhibitions, workshops, conferences, pedagogical actions, and public communication materials for the project
