Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities
The University is seeking dependable, safety-conscious Shuttle Van
Drivers to provide reliable transportation for students between
campus facilities, residence halls, parking areas, and other
designated university locations. Shuttle Van Drivers play an
important role in supporting student access, safety, and mobility
across campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate university shuttle vans along assigned campus
routes.
- Transport students, faculty, staff, and authorized passengers
in a courteous and professional manner.
Follow established routes, schedules, traffic laws, and
university transportation policies.
Conduct required vehicle safety inspections before and after
each shift.
Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle as
needed.
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly shuttle environment.
Monitor and report vehicle maintenance or safety concerns
promptly.
Provide accurate information about routes, stops, schedules,
and campus locations.
Respond appropriately to emergencies, accidents, or other
unusual situations.
Complete required trip logs, incident reports, and other
transportation documentation.
Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism when
interacting with students and members of the university
community
Minimum Required Education
Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Ability to safely operate a passenger van or similar vehicle.
Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with students and
the public.
Dependable attendance and punctuality.
Ability to remain calm and professional in a variety of
situations.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and university
safety procedures.
Successful completion of a criminal background check is required
as a condition of employment.
Must meet all university, state, and applicable federal
requirements for operating a passenger shuttle vehicle.
Minimum Expectations
Shifts will include
early mornings, evenings, weekends, and
university events . Scheduling will be based on campus
transportation needs and employee availability.
