Job Summary
Manages the activities, operations, and programs of Horizons Atlanta at Kennesaw State University. Oversees staff supervision, fundraising efforts, program logistics, communications, marketing, and social media for the Horizons program. Cultivates strong relationships with Horizons students, families, staff, volunteers, and partners within the Paulding County School District and Kennesaw State University
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees daily program operations, including fundraising, grant writing, and coordination with KSU and Horizons families
- Maintains partnerships with community organizations and local resources
- Leads teacher orientation and curriculum planning to create an engaging, project-based summer program focused on reading and math
- Manages procurement and organization of classroom and enrichment materials
- Coordinates schedules and logistics for academics, enrichment activities, field trips, and transportation
- Communicates regularly with Horizons staff throughout the summer program
- Works with KSU Bagwell College of Education to align the program with strategic goals and budget guidelines
- Advocates for the program and its families by raising awareness of youth-related issues
- Plans student and parent events, such as info sessions, orientations, and program celebrations
- Conducts an end-of-summer evaluation to assess improvements and best practices
- Provides student performance reports to KSU and Horizons National/Regional.
- Completes required reports for Horizons National/Regional
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in elementary education, middle grades, secondary education, or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license
Required Experience
Five (5) years of experience in education or nonprofit leadership position
Relevant experience in educational program administration, data analysis, fundraising, grant writing, budgeting, and fiscal management
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Preferred Experience
Previous supervisory experience with the Horizons program
Experience working with the Paulding County School District

Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with fellow staff, volunteers, and parents
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one-time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Demonstrated commitment to youth development and a deep understanding of strategies to support and empower underserved students.
A deep commitment to supporting and empowering underserved students from Paulding County Schools through education and mentorship.
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette

This is a supervisory position.
This position does not have any financial responsibilities.
This position will be required to drive.
This role is considered a position of trust.
This position does not require a purchasing card (P-Card).
This position may travel 1% - 24% of the time
