Six-year fixed-term Full Professor Positions in terms of Excellent Young Scientists Fund Program (Overseas) of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC)

We are sincerely inviting global talents to apply for the 2025 Excellent Young Scientists Fund Program (Overseas) of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) via Dalian University of Technology (DUT). The six-year full professor position is provided for each successful applicant and the position can start after the successful notification from NSFC.

The Excellent Young Scientists Fund Program (Overseas) aims to attract and encourage outstanding young scholars (including non-Chinese foreign talents) who have achieved notable accomplishments in natural sciences, engineering, and related fields to come to China and perform their talents. Scholars are encouraged to independently choose their own research directions and conduct innovative studies, fostering a rapid development in scientific and technological youth talents. The program seeks to cultivate a great number of promising academic commander capable of making contributions at the forefront of global science and technology, thereby contributing to the construction of a technologically strong nation.

1. Job Requirements in terms of Guide for the National Natural Science Foundation Excellent Young Scientists Fund Program (Overseas) 2025

   The following qualifications are referenced from the “Guide for the National Natural Science Foundation Excellent Young Scientists Fund Program (Overseas) 2024” in terms of the Chinese version via https://www.nsfc.gov.cn/publish/portal0/tab948/info91706.htm

   • Comply with the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, possess good scientific ethics, and conscientiously embody the spirit of scientists in the new era.
   • Born on or after January 1st, 1985.
   • Hold a doctoral degree.
   • The main research focus shall cover natural sciences, engineering, and related fields.
   • After obtaining a doctoral degree, the applicant is generally expected to have held a formal teaching or research position at an overseas university, research institution, or corporate R&D institution, with a continuous work experience of at least 36 months. For those who have obtained a doctoral degree overseas with outstanding achievements, the work experience requirement may be appropriately relaxed.
   • Have acquired research or technical achievements recognized by peers, and possess the potential to become an academic leader or outstanding talent in the field.
   • Applicants who have not yet come to work in China full-time or who have come to work in China on or after January 1, 2024, must resign from their overseas positions or have no employment overseas upon receiving the funding notification. They are required to work full-time in China for a minimum of 3 years.
   • Restrictive Requirements
     Adhere to the requirements of central authorities regarding the coordinated integration of national science and technology talent plans. Individuals at the same level of the national science and technology talent plan can only undertake one project and are not allowed to apply for projects at a lower level.
2. Position, Salary and Start-up Package from Dalian University of Technology
   • Appointed as a fourth-level professor, given the qualification of doctoral supervisor, and the financial support for individuals and teams during the appointment period can reach 25-29 million RMB（about ＄3,530,000-＄4,100,000）;
   • Individual salary and settlement benefits: a total of 6.4 million RMB（about ＄906,000） for six years, including 3.6 million RMB（about ＄509,000） salary (excluding scientific research performance) and 2.8 million RMB（about ＄396,000） housing allowance – Dalian Campus (in accordance with current national and provincial policies)；
   • Initial research funding of 3-7 million RMB（about ＄424,000-＄990,000）;
   • Team building is given 1 associate professor +2 assistant professors +6 post-doctoral recruitment indicators; 4 doctoral candidates in the first 3 years (targeted special enrollment index).
