The Veterinary Teaching Hospital in the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a qualified applicant to fill a non-tenured Professor of Practice faculty position as a Small Animal Emergency Veterinarian. This position supports the hospital's commitment to providing exceptional care for a vibrant and growing emergency caseload. The selected candidate will focus on the clinical management of cases in the Emergency Service and contribute to the educational mission of the College by providing focused clinical instruction to senior veterinary students, interns, and residents. There is an opportunity for a full-time or part-time appointment depending on candidate interest.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have demonstrated an interest in emergency medicine and surgery and in advanced patient care. Primary clinical responsibilities will include receiving and medically managing small animal emergency cases. The faculty assignment could include daytime, swing, or weekend work. Members of the veterinary faculty must contribute to a team environment, engage productively with referring veterinarians, and collaborate with colleagues. Faculty members are expected to provide exceptional patient care while simultaneously providing clinical instruction for veterinary students and house officers.

Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and credentials. Full-time faculty are eligible for full university benefits. Information regarding benefits can be found at https://www.auburn.edu/administration/human_resources/benefits/index.php.

The successful candidate should demonstrate a commitment to team-based, high quality, compassionate medicine, and a good learning environment for student trainees. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Eligibility for faculty veterinary licensure in the State of Alabama is also required.

Desired Qualifications: Experience in emergency practice or completion of a small animal internship are desired along with an interest in emergency and critical care.

Special Instructions to Applicants: Applications must include a letter of intent stating professional goals, curriculum vitae, and the names and email addresses of three professional references. Inquiries may be directed to Dr. Aubrey N Baird, Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs (anb0116@auburn.edu).
