Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a Social Media and Content Assistant to join the Takitoru - Communications and Marketing Group on a casual contract, working approximately 10 hours per week with some flexibility around the schedule. The role pays $30 per hour plus 8% holiday pay.
We are looking for a senior undergraduate or postgraduate student to support us with creating vibrant digital content that highlights and celebrates the work of students and staff.
This role will support the creation of content for the @Vicuniwgtn_STEM Instagram account, so it would be particularly well suited for a science or engineering student.
Key responsibilities:
- Source and produce interesting, diverse, high-quality content and stories from students, staff, and alumni.
- Assist in content planning for, and updating Instagram channels; monitor and build reach and engagement.
- Keep up-to-date with social media trends and opportunities.
- Manage competitions and/or giveaways conducted via our social media channels.
- Assist in arranging photoshoots, and image and video management according to University guidelines, ensuring appropriate permissions are gained and filed.
- Participate in events, that may on occasion be outside office hours, to capture and create content.
- Support with other appropriate tasks as required relating to communications, marketing, and engagement.

Key requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a relevant qualification at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington.
- Comfortable being filmed and doing interviews independently on and off camera.
- Interest in social media communication and trends.
- Experience in creating a range of content for social media.
- Creative skills and the ability to identify a good story and compelling visual content.
- Have excellent interpersonal, verbal communication, and writing skills.
- Be proactive, able to take initiative, problem solve, and work within tight schedules.
- Be flexible with your working hours when needed.
