Social Studies Coordinator
History Department
Central Connecticut State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Social Studies Coordinator in the Department of History. The position is at the rank of assistant professor specializing in history and social studies and will be a joint appointment with the Department of Educational Innovation and Technology. The successful candidate will work with the Department of History, Ammon College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, and School of Education to oversee the educator preparation program that leads to state certification in Secondary History and Social Studies (grades 4-12).

About CCSU’s History Department
The History Department is currently composed of 13 faculty—5 US historians, 4 European historians, and 4 World (Africa, Asia, Middle East, and Latin America) historians—and boasts approximately 200 history majors. Nearly two-thirds of our majors are social studies education majors. Our social studies education program is one of the most well-established and widely respected in Connecticut. The department has three other areas of strength: public history, game studies, and international education.
Position Profile
Coordinator responsibilities include the following:
- Teach social studies education classes and academic courses in a field commensurate with one’s historical fields of expertise
