Students studying Sociology of Health and Medicine will gain and contribute knowledge in the major areas that are relevant to health policy and sociological theory.

Programme Structure

The sociology of health and medicine critically analyses:

medical and healthcare systems
the production of medical and health knowledge and practice
the social, material and cultural effects of medical and healthcare practice
historical sociology analysing the changing roles of medicine and health in society
the role of health-related sciences and technologies within society
