Softball Head Coach

The Softball Head Coach will manage all aspects of the NCAA Division I Softball program, including recruiting, coaching, planning practices and competition, scheduling, managing program budgets, etc.
The Softball Head Coach will be responsible for the following:
- Organizing, conducting, and supervising all aspects of the intercollegiate softball program to include the following: skill instruction; practices; student-athlete strength & conditioning; competition scheduling; competition preparation and competition day coaching; and participation within designated conference and NCAA meetings
- Providing appropriate leadership, direction, and supervision relevant to the academic progress of student-athletes within the softball program
- Adhering to all university, conference, and NCAA rules and requirements relevant to the overall conduct of the intercollegiate softball program
- Preparing designated information relevant to budgets, equipment needs, travel advances/reconciliations, prospective student-athlete recruitment records, and other program areas; working with development staff to establish relationships with alumni and other friends of the program and to identify potential donors to the program
- Overseeing and assigning responsibilities to the Softball Assistant Coaches, supervising all aspects of their work performance, and conducting performance evaluations; actively recruiting and supervising volunteer coaches to work with various events not assigned to other coaches
- Representing the Department of Athletics and the field hockey program at specified university, department, media, and community functions and events
The work hours for this position include nights and weekends, as required by practice, competition, and recruiting. Travel is required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three years of softball coaching experience
- Proven ability to train and recruit at the Division I collegiate level
- Ability to accept and carry out assigned program and responsibilities
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well with students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community
- Ability to pass the NCAA recruiting test and have a thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
- Ability to work collaboratively within the structure and framework of an athletics department and university
- Ability to confidently and competently lead training sessions for the program
- A demonstrated commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically
- A demonstrated commitment to building a positive team culture
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- Experience as a Division I student-athlete
