Job Summary: The Software developer will play a key role in supporting and modernizing enterprise financial systems during the University System of Georgia's transition from PepleSoft to Workday. This position will provide technical expertise in PeopleSoft Financials, specifically Travel & Expenses, while also leading the design and development of integrations between Workday (Financials, Procurement, HCM) and internal or third-party systems such as Banner and Concur. This role is ideal for a developer who has strong PeopleSoft functional/technical experience and is ready to extend their expertise into Workday integrations and cloud-based ERP solutions.
Responsibilities:
- PeopleSoft Support & Transition: Provide ongoing development and support for PeopleSoft Financials' Travel & Expenses, ensuring continuity of service during the transition to Workday. Troubleshoot and resolve PeopleSoft application issues, including interface failures, data integrity, and user support escalations. Participate in knowledge transfer and migration planning from PeopleSoft to Workday.
- Integration Design & Development: Architect, develop, and implement integrations for Workday Financials, Procurement, and HCM using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, and Web Services (REST/SOAP). Design, support, and maintain integrations with Banner and Concur, ensuring seamless data exchange with Workday and PeopleSoft. Create and maintain scalable, reusable integration frameworks and APIs.
- Collaboration & Solutioning: Partner with finance, procurement, and HR business analysts to understand requirements across both PeopleSoft and Workday platforms. Serve as a technical liaison for functional teams, ensuring that PeopleSoft knowledge informs Workday design decisions. Proactively identify opportunities to streamline financial processes through integration and automation.
- Governance & Documentation: Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance across PeopleSoft, Workday, and third-party systems. Maintain detailed documentation of integration designs, PeopleSoft customizations, and transition strategies.
- Support & Optimization: Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve integration issues across PeopleSoft and Workday environments. Optimize the performance and scalability of Workday integrations, especially for large data volumes. Provide input on best practices for system security, testing, and change management during the transition period.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field, plus 5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience. 5+ years of experience in enterprise system development, with direct experience supporting PeopleSoft Financials (Travel & Expenses). Experience with Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Document Transformation, and Web Services (REST/SOAP), or willingness to rapidly develop expertise. Strong understanding of ERP systems in Finance and Procurement domains. Programming proficiency in Java, Python, or XSLT. Proficiency with SQL and PeopleSoft data structures. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Workday Integration Developer Certification. 3+ years of direct experience with Workday integrations (preferred but not required). Experience integrating ERP systems with Banner and Concur. Experience in higher education or the public sector.
