Job Description:

Join a team that’s shaping the future of engineering education through technology. The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering’s Engineering Technical Services (ETS) is seeking a Solutions Developer to design and deliver technology-driven solutions that improve the way our schools operate.

This role is both consultant and builder: you’ll partner with staff and administrators to understand their challenges, design efficient processes, and then bring those solutions to life through automation, low-code platforms, and AI-assisted development. By consulting across all levels of the organization, you’ll help staff and units work smarter, improve day-to-day operations, and deliver results that matter to the Fulton Schools community.

Position Salary Range:

$66,200 – $82,500 per year, DOE

Essential Duties:

  • Partner with administrative and operational stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze needs, and design solutions that improve efficiency and align with FSE and ETS priorities.
  • Develop, test, and deliver functional solutions using a mix of low-code platforms, automation tools, AI-assisted development, and lightweight coding.
  • Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring requirements are clearly documented, understood, and translated into outcomes.
  • Consult with departments and functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains, guiding them toward sustainable, technology-enabled solutions.
  • Integrate systems and automate workflows to reduce redundancy, streamline operations, and improve service delivery.
  • Document requirements and solution designs in a clear, consistent format to support adoption, maintenance, and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, AI capabilities, and automation tools, applying them to enhance ETS’s ability to rapidly deliver solutions.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience designing and delivering solutions that improve operational efficiency or business processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate stakeholder needs into functional solutions using requirements gathering, workflow analysis, or similar techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with automation platforms or low-code tools (e.g., Power Automate, ServiceNow, Make.com, MuleSoft).
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted solution development (e.g., AI-powered prototyping, automation, or code generation).
  • Strong ability to analyze complex problems, identify inefficiencies, and recommend technology-enabled improvements.
  • Proven success in consultative roles — guiding staff or departments toward adopting effective technical solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience documenting requirements, processes, and solutions in clear, reusable formats.

Working Environment:

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Position may involve shared offices, telecommuting.
