The University of Cambridge is seeking an experienced Sourcing Manager to deliver high-quality procurement across a diverse and devolved organisation, working as part of Procurement Services which has undergone an exciting transformation in recent years, strengthening its strategic capability and the way it partners with departments and suppliers.
As a Sourcing Manager, you will execute sourcing activities and support Category Managers in delivering procurement outcomes, ensuring compliance, value for money, and operational efficiency across multiple categories.
The Role
As a Sourcing Manager, you will deliver end-to-end sourcing activity across a range of procurement categories, supporting academic or professional stakeholders to achieve compliant, efficient, and value-driven outcomes. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to understand requirements, provide practical procurement advice, and execute sourcing strategies. You will support supplier engagement, contract development, and post-award handover, ensuring that University policies, sustainability objectives, and risk management standards are applied consistently.
Your Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience delivering procurement activity in a complex organisation
- Strong planning, organisational, and analytical skills to manage multiple sourcing projects concurrently
- Ability to build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Strong commercial and analytical skills, with the capability to manage multiple sourcing activities concurrently
- Knowledge of procurement processes and modern sourcing techniques, including Value for Money and Sustainable Procurement.
- Confidence providing procurement advice to non-specialist stakeholders.

Location
The University supports hybrid working where role requirements allow. Some work will be undertaken on university premises and some remotely, subject to operational needs. The aim of our approach is to enable staff to work in a hybrid way if they wish and where their role allows. Procurement Services 'in-office days' are presently Wednesday and Thursday.
