Assistant/Associate Professor in Genetics and Cell Biology

Southeastern Oklahoma State University's Department of Biological Sciences invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in the area of Genetics and Cellular Biology at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. The candidate will be expected to teach Genetics, Cell and Molecular Biology, and Principles of Biology I. Additional courses may be taught within the candidate's area of expertise. Candidates should have a background in Genetics/Molecular Biology or Cell Biology, with a biomedical or human/life sciences emphasis preferred. Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in Genetics/Molecular Biology or Cell Biology or a closely related discipline from an accredited university. ABD applicants may be considered but must demonstrate the ability to have the degree conferred before the anticipated start date.

The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in undergraduate education, and teaching experience at the college level is preferred. Candidates should be able to show potential for engaging in a research program involving undergraduate and graduate students. The ability to further develop the Biological Health Science program and improve student recruitment is preferred. Additional preferred qualifications include experiences or willingness to teach online and/or hybrid courses and potentially teach summer classes.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and rank. The anticipated start date is January 2026. Candidates able to start August 2026 will be considered. To be considered, candidates must submit a cover letter expressing interest in the position, a current CV, a statement of teaching philosophy, description of a genetics/cell biology-based research program with plan for including undergraduate and graduate students, copies of unofficial transcripts, and contact information for 3 references. Southeastern Oklahoma State University, founded in 1909 as a teacher college, continues the strong tradition of producing outstanding educators for southeast Oklahoma and north Texas. Student enrollment on the campus(s) is approximately 5,500 and the campus is situated in rural Oklahoma. The Department of Biological Sciences offers Bachelor's degrees in: Biology (with focus areas in Health Sciences, Botany, and Zoology), and Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences. Currently, we also offer one graduate program (Master of Science in Biology) and are part of the Curriculum & Instruction online Master's Program under the Science emphasis.
