SP2 Faculty Research Coordinator
This position is placed under the Associate Dean for Research in the School of Social Policy & Practice (SP2) to help the school grow its external funding by assisting faculty in the submission of training and research grants and ensuring that faculty are aware of relevant grant opportunities in a timely manner. Tasks may include obtaining letters of support, collecting data, editing, conducting literature reviews and managing citations, completing IRB forms and training, supporting, and assisting student workers to learn computer packages and obtain research ethics certification.
The Research Coordinator will routinely work on multiple projects simultaneously, covering a range of areas under, the direction of various SP2 faculty members. They will be responsible for gathering essential information and materials required for and in the completion of forms and administrative portions of grant submissions, particularly, federal grants. The Research Coordinator will utilize their understanding of research ethics and experience with grant submission to assist SP2 faculty with the process. The individual needs knowledge and experience with a range of research methods, including familiarity with quantitative and qualitative data analysis and survey software and basic statistics and excellent writing skills. This person needs critical assessment skills to manage, develop and independently accomplish a variety of tasks and for a diversity of projects. In addition, this individual will train and supervise 2-3 student workers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinate effort and assist faculty by completing forms for grant submissions, particularly for NIH grants including facility and enrollment forms, subcontracts. etc.
- Develop procedures, provide support and obtain materials and seek information needed for grant submissions, and preparation of documents to sponsors and university committees for multiple faculty members.
- May entail obtaining data such as census or governmental reports through internet and library searches for supporting information.
- Be a major contributor to support faculty by conducting literature reviews, subject recruitment, collecting data, data analysis, editing, collating, and collecting essential forms, letters, for faculty in manuscript and grant submissions.
- Manage with minimal supervision of Associate Dean of Research maintaining up-to-date information on training and research grant announcement opportunities and distribute to appropriate faculty in a timely manner.
- Attend and assist in meetings with PIs, faculty and research team as needed.
- Supervision of student workers to assist with literature reviews, data collection and obtaining their IRB training for certification to conduct data collection.
- Works independently and collaboratively with numerous university offices and external organizations to access information for completion of tasks to be accomplished
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including participation in convocation and graduation ceremonies as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of experience is required.
- MSW and 2-3 of experience is preferred.
- Some knowledge of and experience with federal grants is important.
- Strong writing skills, ability to multi-task, excellent communicator, highly organized, able to manage up, and collaborative ability to work with a diversity of faculty.
- Knowledge and experience of a diversity of data collection methods, including familiarity with quantitative and qualitative data analysis, basic statistics and survey software.
