JOB SUMMARY:
The Special Education Teacher implements special education or related services for a class and/or provides direct assistants to specific students at Tall Pines STEM Academy. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
15% - Manage Behavior: Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school. Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary. Perform certain duties with students, including but not limited to student support, counseling students academic problems, and providing student encouragement.
15% - Reports: Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations. Prepare required reports on students and activities. Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, clubs and student organizations. Participate in department, school and parent meetings. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
15% - Monitor and Evaluate: Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. Use relevant technology to support instruction. Observe and evaluate students' performance and development. Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests and assignments. Provide the appropriate feedback on work. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students. Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
20% - Support: Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to full participate in activities. Promotes good study habits and student independence for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes. Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills. Models conversation, manners, clean up activities, listening, and everyday interactions for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate social behavior in a culturally sensitive manner.
35% - Teaching and Learning: Assist in the educational and social development of students. Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the classroom teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for the students and monitor their progress. Implements under the supervision of assigned teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts. Document students daily activity.

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL:
Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
