Specialist in Cooperative Extension (Professor of Cooperative Extension)-Groundwater Quantity and Quality - Located at the West Side Research and Extension Center (25-31)
Position Overview
The University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR), in collaboration with the University of California, Merced, invites applications for a Professor of Cooperative Extension at the Assistant Rank, with the formal appointment title Specialist in Cooperative Extension. This role addresses challenges of drought, climate change, and groundwater overdraft through innovative research and extension programs. The successful candidate will develop applied research on sustainable groundwater management and conduct outreach to facilitate adoption of science-based knowledge in California's Central Valley.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement collaborative research, education, and outreach programs to enhance sustainable use and quality of groundwater.
- Conduct applied research on subsurface hydrology, groundwater quality assessment, modeling, conjunctive use scenarios, climate change impacts, and groundwater recharge strategies.
- Extend knowledge through publications, workshops, and stakeholder engagements.
- Collaborate with UC ANR academics, UC Merced faculty, and agencies like the California Department of Water Resources.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Ph.D. in Hydrogeology, Hydrogeochemistry, or related field.
- Experience in groundwater research and extension, strong communication skills, and a record of publications.
- Ability to travel and work onsite at the West Side Research and Extension Center in Five Points, CA.
Salary and Benefits
