Position description
Specialist positions are occasionally available throughout the year in the Department of Pediatrics, School of Medicine, at the University of California, Irvine. These are typically grant-funded positions under the sponsorship of various faculty members. The ideal candidate should be self-driven and motivated, with research experience in a specialization is strongly preferred. Positions are depend upon extramural funding. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Appointments are based on performance and availability of funding.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Junior Specialists - A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) or equivalent research experience.
Assistant Specialists - A Master's degree (or equivalent degree), or five years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.
Associate Specialists - A Master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization. Associate Specialists are normally expected to have a record of academic accomplishments, including contributions to published or in-press research in the field and a demonstrated record of University and/or public service.
Specialists - A Doctoral degree (PhD/MD) (or equivalent degree) or ten years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization. Specialists at full rank are normally expected to have a significant record of academic accomplishments, including contributions to published or in-press research in the field, professional recognition in the field, and a demonstrated record of University and/or public service.
