In connection with the implementation of a research project funded by the Foundation for Polish Science under the Virtual Research Institute programme No. UoF/03-WIB-3/2023-003 entitled “Personalised diagnostics of the vascular endothelium in oncological therapy: towards modern vasculo-oncology” [acronym: ADEVASCO]
Medical University of Gdańsk invites applications for a position in the Research Team
Position: Specialist/Junior Specialist – Nurse
Role in the project: Auxiliary Personnel – Technical Support (f/m)
THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PERSON EMPLOYED IN THIS POSITION WILL INCLUDE:
- participating in research visits of project participants in accordance with the applicable study protocol,
- performing nursing procedures related to the project, including collection of biological material,
- participating in the preparation of patients for diagnostic examinations and supporting physicians during cardio-oncology and vascular assessments,
- monitoring patients’ condition during research visits and reporting to the physician any abnormalities that may be clinically relevant,
- participating in the collection, verification and archiving of clinical data and research documentation in accordance with project requirements,
- collaborating with cardiologists, oncologists and other members of the interdisciplinary research team,
- participating in the preparation of materials for scientific analyses, periodic reports and scientific publications,
- ensuring proper organisation of the workplace and appropriate use of medical equipment used in the project,
- actively participating in organisational and scientific meetings of the research team,
- complying with confidentiality, intellectual property protection and the requirements of the Virtual Research Institute programme.
WE EXPECT CANDIDATES TO HAVE:
- a valid licence to practise as a nurse,
- higher education in nursing (at least a bachelor’s degree),
- experience in working with hospitalised or outpatient patients,
- experience in performing nursing procedures, in particular collecting biological material and performing ECG examinations,
- experience in clinical trials or research projects will be an additional advantage,
- experience in research in cardio-oncology, vascular diagnostics or endothelial function will be an additional advantage,
- the ability to maintain medical and research documentation,
- good command of spoken and written English,
- the ability to work in an interdisciplinary research team.

Pursuant to the ADEVASCO Research Team Funding Agreement, a Research Team Member is required to:
- maintain the confidentiality of information obtained in connection with the Research Task, in particular Intellectual Property;
- refrain from undertaking any professional activity exceeding a total monthly limit of 276 (two hundred and seventy-six) clock hours for all professional activities, and submit a declaration confirming compliance with this requirement whenever requested by the Managing Entity;
- refrain from undertaking any competitive activity directly or indirectly related to the Research Task where Intellectual Property is or may be disclosed or used, or any activity which (or the outcome of which) hinders or prevents (or could reasonably be considered to hinder or prevent) effective protection or Commercialisation of Intellectual Property. Indirect competitive activity shall include, in particular, activity conducted by an entity in which the Research Team Member is a partner, shareholder, stockholder, member of the management board or member of other management, advisory or supervisory/control bodies, as well as by an entity effectively managed by the Research Team Member despite not holding the status of a partner, shareholder, stockholder, management board member or member of another management, advisory or supervisory/control body;
- transfer Intellectual Property, to the broadest extent permitted by law, to the Medical University of Gdańsk in such a way that the Project Leader may ultimately transfer the Intellectual Property to the State Treasury – the minister responsible for higher education and science;
- cooperate in applying for protection of Intellectual Property or in the Commercialisation of Intellectual Property, refrain from exercising moral rights, and authorise the current owner of the economic copyrights to the Intellectual Property to exercise those rights, including in particular the State Treasury – the minister responsible for higher education and science;
- comply with the Agreement, all VRI documentation and the rules contained therein, in particular by fulfilling the obligations imposed on Research Team Members by such documentation;
- sign and submit to the Managing Entity the Research Team Member Declaration in accordance with the attached template.
