Speech Pathologist III, Speech Language & Hearing Sciences
Position Highlights
The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences seeks a staff Speech-Language Pathologist to provide services through university contracts at outpatient otolaryngology clinics and at the SLHS on-campus clinic. The caseload will primarily involve providing evaluation and treatment services to adults and children in the specialty areas of voice and upper airway disorders, dysphagia, and total laryngectomy.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assess and treat patients with complex speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders using extensive clinical knowledge and evidence-based practices. This will include adults and children with voice, upper airway, and communication disorders secondary to head and neck cancer.
- Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations using advanced assessment tools and instrumental procedures to determine treatment needs and develop appropriate care plans. These will include flexible and rigid laryngeal videoendoscopy and stroboscopy, videofluoroscopic swallow studies, flexible fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing, and acoustic assessment of laryngeal function.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians and nurses, to coordinate integrated patient care and treatment planning.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with departmental standards, regulatory requirements, and accreditation guidelines.
