Department Summary
The sponsored projects department has strategically transitioned to a teams structure in response to the remarkable surge in both the current and expected volume and intricacy of OHIO's externally funded research portfolio. As OHIO attained R1 status (indicating very high research activity), the demand for cutting-edge research and infrastructure has intensified. Simultaneously, the administrative burden associated with sponsored research has grown due to evolving federal funding regulations, heightened research security requirements, export control considerations, and data management practices. This position plays a pivotal role in submitting proposals for external funding and acceptance, set up, and non-financial management of awards.
Position Profile
Participates in contract proposals and negotiations. Directs and manages the authorization and transmittal of all proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies. Monitors grants and contracts to ensure expenses are being paid according to contract. Maintains contract renewal schedules.

Manages and resolves complex and ambiguous issues. Works on both strategic and operational challenges, addressing problems that require advanced knowledge and experience. Often takes on leadership roles in projects or initiatives.

Provides mentorship and guidance to team. Infrequently has a limited number of direct reports.

Physical Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 or more years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
CRA or CFRA certification or other relevant professional certifications

Pay Rate: This position is a Pay Grade 17 and starting salary will depend on candidate's experience and qualifications. The hiring range for the position will be between $51,281 and $67,947 annually.
