Primary Purpose of the Position

The Sports Information Director (SID) serves as the chief communications and media relations professional for Winston-Salem State University Athletics. The SID is responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications initiatives that enhance the visibility, reputation, and brand of WSSU Athletics, its student-athletes, coaches, and programs.

The Sports Information Director manages all athletic communications, media relations, digital content, statistical reporting, historical records, publications, social media strategy, and game-day communications operations while ensuring compliance with NCAA, CIAA, and university policies.

This position plays a critical role in promoting the achievements of WSSU Athletics and advancing the University's mission through effective storytelling and stakeholder engagement.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

• Experience working within collegiate athletics.
• Experience with NCAA statistics and reporting procedures.
• Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to interact and build relationships with administrators, coaches, and student-athletes
