Position Summary: This non-tenured position is responsible for teaching a course in Strategic Human Resource Management in the KATZ School of Business. This is temporary, non-benefited, one-semester appointments that may lead to future teaching opportunities.

Job Description:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of an Adjunct Faculty Member:

  • Develop and teach a course in Strategic Human Resource Management
  • Promptly assess student work, providing specific and actionable feedback.
  • Adapt instruction based on students’ needs while maintaining high expectations.
  • Continuously improve instruction to ensure Student Learning Outcomes are met.
  • Maintain competency and currency in your professional field.
  • Follow all college policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with others, utilizing a collegial style in all forms of communication.
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility, including the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508.
  • Produce and remediate digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Specialized Skills, and Experience:

  • Masters degree or Bachelors degree with extensive experience in human resource management.
  • Ability to teach courses within the particular discipline as needed.
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence at the college or university level.

Preferred Education, Specialized Skills, and Experience:

  • Ability to teach in person.
  • Demonstrated success working in a diverse student environment.
  • Professional experience outside of academia.
  • Published in academic journals.

Reports To / Supervisory Responsibility: This position reports to the department chair

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand in front of a classroom, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and write on the board. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.

Travel: Travel is not expected with this position.

FLSA Status/ Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Exempt, Part Time (1 course per Semester) <.5FTE, Temporary, One-semester position (Renewable), Typical work hours are 8 to 5 pm, Monday through Friday.

Salary: The salary for this position is $5,000 per class
