Seminars ( FIGS ), one-credit courses developed and taught by upper-class students to aid first-year students in their transition to college and their exploration of an academic path or career interest. Each fall, the First-Year Interest Group Seminars ( FIGS ) program enrolls over 1,500 first-year students in more than 80 course sections. The Senior Program Coordinator assists the Associate Director with the curriculum development and course oversight of the First-Year Interest Group Seminars ( FIGS ) courses as well as the three-credit seminar for Peer Instructors. The incumbent is responsible for the recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of part-time program coordinators, Senior Peer Instructors, Peer Instructors and undergraduate interns. The incumbent also provides career advising services to first-year students. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Assists the Associate Director with managing the First-Year Interest Group Seminars ( FIGS ) program. This includes collaborating with the FIGS team to regularly refine and update curricula and syllabi for FIGS courses and the three-credit seminar for peer instructors (PI Education). Takes a leadership role in managing the recruitment and selection process for Peer Instructors or the oversight and leadership of training processes for Peer Instructors and coadjutant instructors for PI Education. Oversees learning management systems (Canvas sites) related to the courses, scheduling classroom spaces, and other logistical details. They will participate in new student advising programs as it relates to the promotion of FIGS and first-year student success. Directly supervises at least one part-time Program Coordinator, approximately 20 Peer Instructors, and undergraduate student leaders (Senior Peer Instructors or interns). Lead regular team meetings and one-on-ones with Peer Instructors to process their teaching experiences, provide ongoing training, share program updates, etc. The Senior Program Coordinator will also process payroll for FIGS Peer Instructors. Closely oversees the FIGS course administration, approve and enter all final grades for FIGS courses, and addresses student issues related to poor course attendance or assignment performance, issues of academic integrity, and mental health concerns. Provides individual career advising to first-year students in the still exploring community. Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or related experience. A minimum of two years of relevant experience.
