Xavier University’s St. Peter Faber Academy is seeking applications for an experienced and self-motivated Primary Teacher to teach grades 1-2. The teacher will embody and articulate the mission and vision of the school. This position will be responsible for preparing interdisciplinary lesson plans, evaluating students’ progress, planning educational activities, and educating students at the first and second grade levels. The teacher will work with Xavier University faculty and staff, as well as, the undergraduate and graduate students in the Educator Preparation Programs.

Job Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality instruction in core subjects, using developmentally appropriate and differentiated strategies to meet diverse student needs.
- Design and implement hands-on, inquiry-based, and collaborative learning experiences, integrating technology and creative approaches to enhance learning.
- Foster students’ academic, social-emotional, and behavioral growth within a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
- Build positive relationships with students to support confidence, independence, and a love of learning.
- Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative methods; maintain accurate records and use data to inform instruction.
- Complete required assessments and reporting, including quarterly progress reports, report cards, and MAP testing administration.
- Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and classroom activities; build strong partnerships with parents/guardians.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences, school events, and community-building activities.
- Uphold and model the Catholic identity and mission of the school by integrating faith into instruction and promoting Catholic values.
- Support the development of a faith-centered classroom and contribute to the broader Catholic school community.
- Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and support staff; participate in professional development and ongoing learning.
- Contribute to a positive, mission-driven school culture while adhering to school policies and expectations.
- Supervise students during non-instructional times (e.g., recess, lunch) and support enrichment activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and maintain availability for occasional evening or weekend events (e.g., conferences, open houses).
- Maintain full-time availability aligned with the academic calendar and work effectively in an active classroom environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Valid Ohio teaching license for P–3 grades
- Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching primary/early elementary grades
- Strong understanding of early literacy and child development
- Excellent classroom management, organizational, and time-management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences
- Collaborative, flexible mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and reflective practice
- Passion for working with young children
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment
