GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will assist in the development, implementation and management of sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for all student athletes and with the operation of the Landry Fitness Center.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design effective year-round athletic strength training and conditioning programs for 5-6 intercollegiate teams based on testing and in collaboration with coaches.
- Implement appropriate strength and conditioning programs, teaching proper techniques and providing supervision and motivation as needed.
- Conduct testing to assess performance and improvement on a regular basis. Document and evaluate results and progress of student athletes. Review results with student athletes and coaches.
- Enter and maintain computerized data and tracking of individual and team workouts.
- Collaborate and communicate with the head strength coach, head sport coaches and athletic trainers.
- Develop plans for the policies and organization of the new fitness facility.
- Maintain equipment and make recommendations for repairs and/or replacements as needed.
- Develop programming related to student athlete health and wellness topics.
- Must be committed to the academic goals of the university and follow the rules, regulations and guidelines set forth by Fitchburg State University, the NCAA, and all member athletic conferences.
- Assist head of performance and sport science with data collection, testing protocols, and management of student interns.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Must have obtained at least one certification from a nationally recognized strength and conditioning organization (NSCA - CSCS, CSCCa - SCCC)
- Current CPR/AED certification.
- Experience with and an excellent working knowledge of exercise techniques appropriate for a variety of intercollegiate student athletes.
- Proficiency in teaching lifting techniques.
- Ability to supervise and motivate student athletes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a diverse population.
- Effective organizational skills.
- Ability to perform above duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, 10 month, exempt, benefits-eligible position in the Association of Professional Administrators (APA) bargaining unit with a union title of Staff Assistant. The starting salary range is $49,000 to $54,000 commensurate with education and experience. Expected start date is 8/10/26.
