General Description

Illinois Institute of Technology's Office of General Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice and representation to the University, and to faculty and staff acting in their roles as representatives of the University. The Staff Attorney works under the supervision of the Associate General Counsel handling a variety of transactional, regulatory, administrative and litigation matters.

Education & Experience

Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school

Knowledge & Skills

• 3-5 years' experience practicing in a law firm, corporate office, or university/college setting, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
• Experience with litigation, immigration, data security, intellectual property, export control and/or government contracting.
• Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide sound legal advice.
• Ability to take initiative and manage tasks efficiently with limited direct oversight.
• Proactively identify and resolve issues and tasks without being specifically instructed.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Excel), Adobe and database management programs.
