"Staff Nurse Float - Critical Care Float Pool"

Scope of Position:

The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patients involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization, The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement , the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost effective care.

Position Summary:

The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.

Required Qualifications

Associate Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program required. Current Ohio license or interim permit. *Experience in relevant care setting preferred.

The Critical Care Float Pool is a specialized team of highly skilled nursing professionals dedicated exclusively to supporting adult critical care units in University and Ross Hospitals. This team provides flexible, expert-level staffing coverage for Intensive Care Units (ICU) and other high-acuity environments where advanced clinical assessment, rapid decision‑making, and proficiency in complex interventions are required.
