Staff Optometrist - Ophthalmology
Position Summary
WashU Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Staff Optometrist to join our esteemed academic medical practice. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive eye care services, diagnosis and management of ocular diseases, and the opportunity for pre- and post-operative care for surgical patients. This role involves working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of ophthalmologists, residents, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care and contribute to the department's educational and research missions.
This position is for adult clinical patients within the WashU Eye Center and may work from multiple clinical locations (Central West End, Creve Coeur, South County, Sunset Hills).
Typical hours are Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm, with no on-call.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Evaluates and treats patients, including: refractive exams; contact lens fitting and dispensing; emergency exams; evaluation and management of medical diseases of the eye.
- Discusses and interprets findings with patients and suggests appropriate remedies.
- Adheres to established compliance guidelines to include those governing the appropriate coding of patient services and diagnoses.
- Adheres to established quality, safety, and hazardous material procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Ophthalmology.

Salary Range
$123,200.00 - $197,100.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
