"Staff Pharmacist Part Time"

Position Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a part-time Staff Pharmacist for the Acute Services within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.

The primary purpose of the part-time Staff Pharmacist is to perform a variety of professional and technical functions for the hospital-wide unit dose drug distribution system. Responsible for reviewing physician orders and prescriptions, maintaining confidential reports, entering and retrieving data utilizing the computer system, responding to requests for drug information, checking technician work and delivering medication to the appropriate units as necessary.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Accurately profiles medication orders into the pharmacy information system.
• Fills patient medication envelopes with the correct medication from computer labels prior to each scheduled delivery.
• Fills and delivers narcotic orders to nursing unit and ancillary departments according to policy and procedure.
• Restocks nursing units with a limited supply of floor stock medications and supplies.
• Prepackages and labels medications into unit doses from bulk supply.
• Reorders pharmacy supplies from approved vendor.
• Bills/credits patient medications by use of the computer charging system.
• Assists in monthly inspections of medication storage areas at each nursing unit and ancillary.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm. D. Degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical effort, up to 50 pounds, 1/3 of the time. Occasional to frequent prolonged standing/walking. Occasional bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Occasionally exposed to patients exhibiting assaultive behaviors. Generally pleasant working conditions in a clean, well lit, quiet to moderately loud setting.

• May need to work weekend and holiday hours.

Salary: Below is the annualized salary for full time employees, and it will be adjusted to reflect part time status.
