Staff Research Associate
Under the supervision of the principal investigator, the incumbent will participate in developmental biology research projects directed towards understanding molecular and cellular mechanisms of skeletal patterning and differentiation in bone, cartilage, muscle, and tendon. Incumbent will be assigned their own projects as well as help support projects of key lab personnel, assist in, and perform surgery in avian embryos, cell culture, and standard molecular biology techniques including but not limited to DNA cloning and isolation, PCR, RNA isolation, RT-PCR, protein isolation, and western blot analysis. Incumbent will assist with sample collection, preparation, and analysis of biological specimens using techniques including histology, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, uCT, and morphometrics. Incumbent will perform general molecular and cellular biological experiments. Incumbent will order supplies, perform general laboratory maintenance; assist and prepare laboratory equipment/supplies/chemicals for projects assigned by the principal investigator and other key personnel. Incumbent will stock and maintain laboratory supplies. Incumbent will participate in managing egg orders, incubators, and associated surgical tools and instruments. Incumbent will capture images of specimens using confocal and light microscopes, maintain accurate record of experiments, collect data, perform data entry, and maintain databases. Incumbent will prepare reports, presentations, manuscripts, figures, and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $26.00 - $31.04 (Hourly Rate).
