Job Description

A licensed professional in a psychology related field responsible for providing mental health services that reduce barriers and create opportunities for greater academic achievement and student success.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides group, individual, couples therapy, and psychoeducational workshops to a culturally diverse college student body in accordance with the university statement on diversity and inclusion.
  • Consults with faculty, staff, and students regarding student concerns and participates in university-wide committees.
  • Keeps accurate and timely electronic records on all contacts with clients.
  • Maintains compliance with ethical standards in the execution of services in accordance with the American Psychological Association, university policies, local, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Positive attitude, proven to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.
  • Participates in staff and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Represents CAPS at campus events including outreach presentations and orientation sessions.
  • Attends professional development opportunities.
  • Maintains licensure status with the appropriate California board.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • This position is open to persons specifically trained to provide therapy at either the Masters or Doctoral Level (e.g., clinical social work, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, or doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology) and licensed to provide therapy at the Masters level (LPCC, LCSW, or LMFT).
  • Current valid license to practice psychology as an independent practitioner in the State of California or valid license to practice in a state in the United States and able to practice under Business and Professional Code Section 2946 (maximum of 180 days subject to the specifics of the regulation).
  • Two (2) years of experience working with adolescents or adults.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Titanium Schedule (EHR).
  • Ability to work well with a diverse client population.
  • Demonstrated skills in culturally competent approaches to multiple modalities of therapy (e.g., group, individual, couples, crisis interventions, consultation and workshops).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to teach in an informal workshop setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated through the ability to establish and maintain effective working with other departments within the university.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Infrequent bending, stooping, kneeling, or reaching above shoulders. May be expected to lift up to 25 lbs. Use of computers, phones, and other technology.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel: Work is primarily performed in clinical or office environment, with some outreach performed outdoors or on other campuses. Work is generally performed during standard business hours. May be required to work non-business hours. Moderate Travel. Valid driver's license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University's fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserve the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.

Hiring Range: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
