Key Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the Event Managers, you will manage all aspects related to front and back of the house staffing for events, interact with contracted staffing providers and local first responder organizations to arrange for relevant event-related support
- Oversee general adherence to best practices for event and nonevent security for the arena and its clients
- Responsible for the hiring, training, scheduling, retention and supervision of event staff
- Oversee building security
- Interact with local public safety officials to ensure that events run safely and smoothly.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 4 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the sport and entertainment field.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Strong written and oral communication skills. Microsoft Office application knowledge.
Job Duties
Working in conjunction with Event Managers, analyze event details then implement effective and efficient staffing and training plan for all front and back of the house staff positions; create work schedules for event, first responder and security staff, delegate assignments and review performance and results; review emergency planning procedures with all event staff for each event; create and distribute detailed staff information sheets as needed for events; schedule and administer pre-event staff briefing meetings; coordinate with Business Operations as needed to ensure event staff and other applicable parties are paid; Assist in overseeing Events Department interns by developing work schedule, completing required evaluation paperwork and delegating event responsibilities as needed; May be required to serve as Manager on Duty when scheduled. Manage staffing and security for the ticket gates at Williams-Brice Stadium during USC home football game. This involves communication with employees via phone, email and fax, conducting a yearly orientation / training to discuss game protocol, recording hours worked in order to process through USC payroll and handling any disciplinary issues that arise. Assigns responsibilities at each gate and with the assistance of part time supervisors, ensures that the entrance gates function efficiently. Employee attends several pre-season meetings with USC Athletics officials in order to effectively plan for each game. Works each game in order to oversee and ensure all gates operate smoothly. (15%)
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors and venue users; function as liaison between users of the venue and the venue staff; investigate and resolve event-related complaints in a professional manner ensuring customer satisfaction; communicate with local officials, including police, fire and medical services, event staff and public to ensure security of patrons and that events run smoothly. (10%)
Develop Security Office operations manual and regularly audit to ensure staff / contractor compliance; update and manage venue emergency plan. (10%)
Conduct recruitment and training of event and security staff; Develop recommendations and implement plans to retain event and security staff. (10%)
Conduct ordering and maintaining of equipment (radios, bullhorns, etc.) for all event and security staff; order, maintain inventory of on site medical supplies and oversee event staff uniform program; perform other duties as assigned. (10%)
