Starfish Operations Specialist - Framingham State University
Working within the Center for Academic Success and Achievement (CASA) and in collaboration with the Coordinator of Starfish Operations and Analytics, the part-time Starfish Operations Specialist will serve as a secondary administrator for Starfish, the early academic alert tool for the University. The specialist assists in the configuration, technical support, and programmatic implementation of the Starfish tool. The role is primarily focused on operational support and user assistance, helping the University leverage Starfish as a tool for student engagement, retention, and success.

EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a secondary System Administrator for Starfish/EAB by providing ongoing configuration of the Starfish/EAB system.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day Starfish questions and troubleshooting from faculty, staff, and students.
- Perform routine tasks each term to update, clean, and maintain Starfish services.
- Monitor system activity to ensure flags, kudos, progress reports, and appointments are running as intended.
- Assist faculty and staff with creating and managing profiles, calendars, and office hours within Starfish.
- Track and escalate technical issues to IT or the vendor as needed.
- Maintain and update user documentation, quick guides, and training materials for campus users.
- Support faculty and staff training sessions by answering questions and providing demonstrations.
- Run routine reports from Starfish to support advising, student success initiatives, and institutional compliance.
- Coordinate campus communications related to Starfish campaigns, progress surveys, and student outreach.
- Collaborate with student support offices (advising, tutoring, counseling, etc.) to strengthen referral and follow-up processes through Starfish.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback on Starfish usage and recommending adjustments to enhance effectiveness.
- Assist the Coordinator of Starfish Operations and Analytics in collecting and analyzing data reports for the continual assessment of processes, programs, and the development of new interventions.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support student success initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; experience in higher education or student services preferred
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new systems quickly
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail
- Ability to practice professionalism and confidentiality regarding student incidents, records
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of and experience with Starfish/EAB
- Master's Degree preferred
This is a part-time, non-benefited contract position, not to exceed 18 hours per week. The scheduled hours are flexible. The pay rate is $35 per hour.
