Job Summary:

A leading university starts with leading facilities. We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Stationary Engineer 4 in our growing facilities and planning department.

As an integral member of our Facilities Maintenance department the primary function of this position to assist in the supervision, coordination and scheduling of the Steam Engineers.

This position will be responsible for leading the work of shift personnel in the Power Plant production of H.P. steam, electricity, compressed air, chilled water and daily plant operations.

The successful candidate will enforce safety regulations at all times and maintain safety precautions as appropriate.

The salary for this position is $80,460 (minimum) up to $88,800 where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have NIULPE Second Class Stationary Engineers License or City of Spokane Stationary Engineer 2 License within 12 months of hire for continued employment.
  • Three years supervisory experience with power plant operations, including feed water systems, coal, gas and fuel oil fired high-pressure boiler systems and all auxiliary equipment, water chilling systems, high voltage generation and distribution systems and related combustion controls and safety devices.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Possession of a valid drivers license is required.
  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of boiler law methods, fuels, materials and tools used in operation and maintenance of high-pressure boilers and associated auxiliary equipment; boiler room safety; heating lighting, ventilations, power and other related mechanical equipment, standard types of automatic control
  • Ability to test and analyze operation of steam boilers and auxiliary equipment; instruct and supervise others; keep records; make written reports; perform heavy manual labor; work under and withstand extremes of temperature
  • Knowledge and experience in chilled water plant operations and maintenance
  • Can be relied upon to achieve excellent results. Earns the trust, respect and confidence of co-workers and customers through consistent honesty, forthrightness, and professionalism in all interactions

Salary Information:

The salary for this position is $80,460 (minimum) up to $88,800 where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills.
