The METHODS team of Centre for Research Epidemiology and Statistics (CRESS) is seeking an statistical engineer.
Main Mission
The research engineer will conduct a methodological review of techniques used to generate synthetic and virtual patients for the purpose of augmenting or enriching clinical trial data.
Activities
- conducting a review of the scientific literature;
- identifying and comparing the main statistical and algorithmic methods;
- analysing their performance, limitations, and conditions of use;
- synthesising the findings in a scientific report;
- contributing to the research activities and scientific discussions of the METHODS team.
Team
The team METHODS (Methods for therapeutic evaluation of chronic disease) of CRESS, located at Hôtel-Dieu hospital in the center of Paris, is affiliated to Université Paris Cité and Inserm. It olfers a dynamic international research environment.

- Building evidence (Leader: Viet-Thi Tran)

We explore innovative approaches to cutomize medical interventions to individual patients, optimizing their chances of success. - Evidence synthesis (Leader: Isabelle Boutron)
Our team specializes in the synthesis of various research findings, providing valuable insights to inform clinical decision-making. - Research on Research (Leaders: Isabelle Boutron, Philippe Ravaud)
We delve into the field of meta-research, investigating methodologies and exploring novel research approaches to improve reliability and reduce waste in research.

Requirements
Research Field: Mathematics » Statistics
Education Level: Master Degree or equivalent
Skills/Qualifications
- Master’s degree (Master 2 or equivalent) in statistics or biostatistics;
- Strong skills in statistical analysis and literature review;
- Proficiency in R or Python;
- Strong synthesis, scientific writing, and teamwork skills;
- Fluent in scientific English
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
Languages: English (Level: Excellent)
