Store Worker (On-Site)
About the Job
Under supervision, the Stores Worker performs operational duties in the receipt, storage, distribution, and tracking of materials, equipment, and supplies. The position uses powered and non-powered material-handling equipment and assists with maintaining accurate inventory and ensuring safe, efficient warehouse operations. This position requires use of a vehicle to deliver and distribute goods.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Receiving, Storage, and Distribution
- Receives, inspects, and verifies incoming shipments for accuracy, condition, and labeling.
- Loads, unloads, and transports materials-including hazardous materials, controlled substances, and high value items-using vehicles and material handling equipment.
- Enters receiving data into tracking systems and prepares required documentation.
- Sorts, stages, and distributes materials/packages to campus and off campus locations.
Inventory and Stockroom Support
- Maintains accurate inventory records and performs stock counts.
- Assists with ordering and securing high value inventory.
- Supports route coverage and transfers between warehouse and campus locations.
- Responds to customer inquiries, including package tracking and issue resolution.
Surplus, Recycling, and Related Operations
- Assists with e waste recycling.
- Supports surplus property processing.
Warehouse Maintenance and General Support
- Maintains clean, organized, and safe warehouse and stockroom environments.
- Supports other logistics and operational units as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High school diploma and/or equivalent certification/experience/training. (Required)
AND
1 year of experience in stores work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. (Required)
CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Knowledge of receiving, inspecting, and documenting incoming shipments.
- Familiarity with safe loading, unloading, and transportation practices.
- Basic warehouse operations.
- Knowledge of shipping documentation, packing slips, and delivery manifests.
- Awareness of workplace safety standards.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle operation, preventative maintenance, and delivery route planning.
- Ability to safely operate delivery vehicles, forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, and other warehouse equipment.
- Strong attention to detail when inspecting packages for accuracy, damage, and completeness.
- Effective time management and organizational skills to meet delivery schedules.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Good communication and customer service skills when interacting with staff, vendors, and departments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift, move, and transport packages and materials safely.
- Experience maintaining accurate receiving and delivery records.
- Experience handling a variety of materials, including fragile, oversized, or high-value items.
- Experience using inventory or receiving systems.
- Experience in a fast-paced warehouse, campus, or logistics environment.
- Experience delivery driving, warehouse receiving, shipping, or distribution operations.
- Ability to read, write, perform mathematical calculations, follow oral and written instructions, perform heavy manual tasks.
Hiring Range
The salary or hourly range for this position is $21.84/hr. - $28.84/hr. Please note the realized minimum pay for this position will be $25/hr., steps less than $25/hr. will include an additional amount elevating to $25/hr.
Forklift Certification
Driver's License Required Under SB1100
Remote/Hybrid eligibility: This position is fully On-Site.
