Located in the hills above the UC Berkeley campus, The Lawrence Hall of Science, UC Berkeley's public science center, inspires and engages millions each year through science discovery and learning in ways that advance equity and opportunity. It is the home of UC Berkeley's ottoy Initiative, which aims to foster understanding of and respect for Ohlone people and culture.

Position Summary
As part of the ottoy Initiative, The Lawrence Hall of Science offers culinary experiences to promote Ohlone culture. The ammatka Kitchen prepares food for onsite and campus venues. The Storekeeper handles sourcing, procurement, receipt, storage, packaging, shipping, and inventory management of ingredients and products, specializing in food services with knowledge of HACCP Food Safety and Sanitation practices.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, store, and rotate inventory per HACCP guidelines.
• Manage inventory using databases, ensure safe temperatures, and maintain storage cleanliness.
• Oversee deliveries, verify invoices, and distribute products.
• Source and procure ingredients, maintaining professional relationships and identifying cost-effective sources.
• Prepare, package, and distribute products while ensuring food safety and sanitation.
• Perform other duties as assigned and engage in professional development.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in storeroom duties, inventory control, and food service.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic.
• Knowledge of food safety and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale food procurement and indigenous ingredients.
• Food service certifications like ServSafe.
