The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi
AUT’s School of Hospitality and Tourism is seeking a reliable and organised Stores Technician to support the daily operation of our training kitchens during semester times.
This is a hands-on role working closely with tutors, students, and the Stores team to ensure food, equipment, and supplies are prepared, stored, and delivered efficiently while maintaining high food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and check incoming goods from suppliers and store them correctly in line with the Food Control Plan
- Prepare and deliver food and equipment trolleys to training kitchens
- Unpack and correctly store returned food items and equipment after classes
- Issue food, equipment, and linen to tutors and students as required
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of Stores areas including chillers, freezers, dry stores, and technician kitchen
- Support tutors and students with additional ingredients or equipment during classes
- Assist with stock rotation, monitoring use-by dates, and reducing waste

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous kitchen experience is essential
- A minimum level of NZQA Standard 167 (Basic Food Hygiene)
- Strong attention to detail and good numeracy skills
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including email and inventory systems
- The ability to work well as part of a team
