Strategic Plan Project Manager

Position Announcement

Utah Tech University is seeking a Strategic Plan Project Manager to lead and manage the university's strategic planning initiatives, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and long-term goals. This role will oversee four strategic priorities, each with three key initiatives, coordinating with the President's Cabinet, strategic priority co-chairs, and implementation committees to drive measurable progress. Working in the Office of the President, the Project Manager will maintain direct communication with the Chief of Staff and President, track timelines, and ensure organizational precision and attention to detail in all deliverables. Additionally, this role will collaborate with university departments to develop and implement a communications strategy that keeps the university community informed and engaged. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and capable of managing complex initiatives while fostering collaboration across multiple university stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Chief of Staff, oversees the implementation of the university's strategic plan, including strategic priorities and initiatives.
  • Coordinate and support strategic priority co-chairs and implementation committees to ensure clarity of roles and progress.
  • Maintain direct communication with the Chief of Staff, President, and other strategic plan leaders on strategic plan progress, risks, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with UMAC to develop and implement a communications strategy, including drafting, reviewing, and distributing campus communications and website updates related to strategic initiatives and milestones.
  • Facilitate collaboration across departments, ensuring alignment with university goals and mission.
  • Coordinate with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness to track initiative timelines, milestones, and deliverables while developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation, reports, and dashboards for leadership review.
  • Identify and address challenges or obstacles impacting initiative success.
  • Ensure high standards of organization, attention to detail, and follow-through in all planning and reporting activities.
  • Provide recommendations for adjustments to initiatives or processes to optimize effectiveness.
  • Support the university in fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement in strategic planning.
  • Lead additional strategic initiatives and priorities as needed to support the Office of the President.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Higher Education Administration, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 3-5+ years of experience in project management, strategic planning, or higher education administration.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives, complex timelines, and diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize competing tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience reporting to executive leadership and drafting community communications.
  • Proficiency with project management software and reporting tools.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration across teams.
  • Knowledge of higher education structures, accreditation, and strategic planning best practices preferred.
  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and problem-solving skills to support unique projects and initiatives.

Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time overtime-exempt staff position. Competitive salary up to $82,500, depending on qualifications and experience. Desired start date of July 2026.
