- 5 weeks annual leave +5 days university holidays

Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
As a Student Advisor within the Faculty of Arts, you will play a key role in supporting student success by delivering accurate, timely and student-centred academic advice.
You will:
- Provide expert guidance to current and prospective students on degree planning, course selection and enrolment
- Support students with applications such as credit transfers, exemptions, workload approvals and study pathways
- Monitor student progress and proactively engage with diverse student groups including Māori, Pasifika, international, adult learners and students with disabilities
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and academic decisions using university systems
- Build strong relationships with academic departments to ensure aligned and effective student support
- Refer students to appropriate support services to enhance their academic and personal wellbeing
- Contribute to faculty projects, including equity, diversity and wellbeing initiatives
- Assist with outreach activities and support future student engagement
Mōu | Who You Are
You are a motivated, student-focused professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about helping others succeed.
You will bring:
- At least 3 years’ experience, ideally within a tertiary education or advisory environment
- Strong understanding of policies, regulations and processes (or the ability to quickly interpret and apply them)
- Experience in a customer-facing role with a strong service ethos
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proven ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds with cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Experience supporting students in education settings
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Confidence working both independently and collaboratively
- Bachelor’s Degree (NZQA Level 7)
Advantageous:
- Knowledge of student management systems
- Understanding of Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga
- Familiarity with tertiary education systems and regulations

You will work closely with the Faculty of Arts team, including academic staff, administrators and wider student support services.
This role is highly collaborative, connecting with teams across the university to ensure students receive holistic, culturally responsive and effective support throughout their academic journey.
