Student Advocacy Assistant
POSITION SUMMARY
The Student Advocacy Assistant provides part-time support for the Office of Student Advocacy by assisting with basic needs and wellness initiatives, Disability and Equity programs, organizational tasks, and departmental projects. This position plays a key role in helping maintain smooth operations, supporting storage and inventory systems, and upholding strict confidentiality when handling sensitive student or departmental information. The Student Advocacy Assistant will also collaborate with the Office of Diversity and Equity(ODE) to provide support for programs and events that advance CCAs mission.
OVERVIEW OF CCA
The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. In addition to traditional degree and certificate programs, CCA offers non-credit professional development courses, customized training, and economic and workforce development resources to employer partners and individual professionals seeking to enhance the capacity and productivity of their workforce or individual knowledge and skills. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the daily operations of Student Advocacy initiatives such as Foxys Resource Room, Foxys Mobile Market, Food Recovery, Laptop Loan Program, Resource Walls, and other projects as needed.
- Provide logistical and organizational support for events and programs in partnership with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI), including set-up, outreach, event materials, and follow-up.
- Help maintain accurate records, data entry, and basic reporting for departmental programs while upholding confidentiality at all times.
- Assist with storage management and organization of Student Advocacy supplies, including inventory tracking, restocking, and maintaining clean, accessible storage spaces.
- Support grant-related activities by tracking participant engagement and assisting with required documentation.
- Provide general administrative support, including scheduling, communications, and office organization.
- Contribute ideas to improve organization, processes, and student-facing initiatives.
- Carryout other duties as assigned in support of Student Advocacy and ODEI priorities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, follow through on responsibilities, and complete tasks without requiring close supervision.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort with maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to supporting the diverse student body of the Community College of Aurora.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Salary Range:$21.00 per hour without an associates degree and $23.00 per hour with an associates degree. This is a part-time position at 28 hours per week. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
