Job Summary
The Student Assistant in the Honors College assists with routine office duties including answering phones, maintaining e-mail correspondence, coordinating with staff members, greeting visitors, organizing office materials and files, and assisting with events and programs, maintaining social media, and content creation.

Required Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled as a degree seeking student at Florida Gulf Coast University at the time of hiring and throughout the appointment
- Must be a current Honors College student in good standing with both the Honors College and the University
- Must be eligible to receive Federal Work-Study funds
- Must have experience operating a personal computer with Windows (preferred) and/or Mac OS
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Must have experience with Canva or other platforms suited for media content creation and editing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Work experience in higher education settings with a strong understanding of organizational practices and culture
- Previous work experience as an Office Assistant
- Experience in office/business management and/or creating/editing media content

- Ability to establish and maintain good rapport with university faculty, staff, students, and the public
- Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports
- Ability to exercise good judgment
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and prioritize deadlines

- Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment
- Ability to represent the university in a positive and professional manner
- Apply effective techniques to create working relationships with others; successfully communicate and collaborate with others to achieve goals
- Demonstrate integrity, practices civility and mutual respect, and adheres to institutional mission and values
- Demonstrates skills necessary to assess situations and processes critically to make recommendations for improvement
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Knowledge of general office procedures
- Knowledge of the Honors College curricula and requirements
- Possess the knowledge of general written standards and procedures, and read, interpret, and follow procedural/policy manuals as they relate to job tasks
- Promote a common purpose consistent with stated University goals and demonstrate a commitment to students and the learning environment
- Present a professional image in communications with the community, actions, and attire.
