Student Assistant - Marketing and Events
Job Summary
The Marketing and Events Student Assistant supports the day-to-day marketing efforts and event operations of the Richards College of Business. This position works under the supervision of the Director of Marketing and Events to assist with social media management, content creation, event planning, and general office support. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Assist in creating and scheduling content for RCOB social media platforms
- Support event planning, including making reservations, setting up, and breaking down event spaces
- Help design flyers, graphics, and other promotional materials using Canva or similar tools
- Take photos and help coordinate visual content for digital and print media
- Update and maintain marketing materials such as brochures and bulletin boards
- Provide on-site support for departmental, alumni, and university events
- Track and organize event inventory and supplies
- Support day-to-day administrative duties and assist with marketing requests
- Collaborate with the University Communications and Marketing (UCM) team as needed
Required Qualifications
- Must be a currently enrolled student in the Richards College of Business at UWG.
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours.
- Must be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
- Must be available to work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other design tools is a plus
- Photography or videography experience is helpful but not required
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Professional demeanor and willingness to learn
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
- Comfort assisting with event setup and breakdown, including indoor and outdoor activities

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Social Media Basics – Comfortable using platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn; experience with tools like Canva or scheduling apps is helpful.
- Simple Design Skills – Able to create clean, eye-catching graphics using Canva or similar tools.
- Event Support – Willing to help with event setup, check-in, and other behind-the-scenes tasks.
- Writing and Content Help – Can write clear, friendly captions or short messages for posts, flyers, or emails.
- Photo/Video Comfort – Comfortable snapping quick photos or short videos at events using a phone or camera.
- Attention to Detail – Takes time to check spelling, formatting, and simple design layout when working on materials.
- Positive Attitude & Professionalism – Friendly, respectful, and dependable when working with students, faculty, and guests.
