Job Description:

The Student Development Specialist I position, under the direction of the Attorney for Students, provides professional assistance for legal triage efforts and non-clinical case management support for students navigating legal questions and basic needs challenges. Responsibilities include assisting students through special programs designed to meet constituent needs.

Job Duties:

Legal Support Services

• Conduct triage and intake meetings with students seeking legal support through the Attorney for Students Office.
• Provide support to students in reviewing basic lease agreements, following training and guidance from the Attorney for Students.

Basic Needs Support

• With training and guidance from the Dean of Students Office - CARE Team, provide non-clinical case management support for students of concern specifically related to accessing basic needs.
• Assist students with applying for SNAP benefits, emergency grants/loans, and connect students to campus and community-based wraparound services.

Legal Administrative Duties

• Assist with preparing legal documents such as briefings, memos, applications, forms, etc.
• Assist in research projects, data collection, and analysis.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records in the case management system(s).
