Hours per week: 15-20 hours a week with a flexible schedule, to the degree possible. Typical work hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Hiring Rate: 12 per hour
Preferred Student Classification: Must be a Sam Houston State University graduate student to apply for this position.
Nature & Purpose of Position: Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Honors College Office, such as: serving as a receptionist and completing general office work such as but not limited to copying, scanning, indexing, answering telephone calls and emails from students, parents, faculty, and staff. Manage marketing/advertising, communications, and the Honors College website. Post and manage social media updates, create flyers for Honors events, update and edit all Honors forms, update brochures and marketing communication. Assist with event preparation for all Honors events. Assist Associate Director with Honors advising for incoming, current, and transfer students. Perform other general office duties as assigned.
Other Requirements for the Position: The ideal applicant is friendly, shows initiative, can multi-task, works independently, and is able to interact professionally with students, faculty, staff, and guests. Must maintain confidentiality of all records and databases associated with assigned area. Must be able to work flexible hours Monday – Friday between 8AM-5PM. Some evening/night commitments during various times of the school year for events.
Possess basic computer/Software skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Campus Connect, Blackboard, Degree Works
Marketing/Advertising/Communications and/or Public Relations majors preferred. English or Technical Communications are also desirable
