Nature & Purpose of Position

Position will begin in the Fall 2026. Interviews will take place in Summer/Fall 2026.
The College of Arts and Media is seeking a dynamic and outgoing student to provide support for the guest services team by assisting with events and creating a pleasant environment to ensure that guests have enjoyable experience.
The Guest Services Team provides students with the opportunity to work in a professional setting and will gain valuable real-world skills and training that will benefit their future careers. This position will report to the Patron Services Manager and the Theatre Manager.

Duties and Expectations
This position is representative of the College of Arts and Media and requires serious dedication.
The guest services student assistant is expected to do the following:
- This position provides support for all CAM events in both the Gaertner Performing Arts Center and the University Theatre Center. This position will require working events on nights and weekends.
- Assist the house manager in the preparation and set up of the lobby, restrooms and venues for all ticketed events.
- Help to oversee all front-of-house operations, ensuring the audience is safe and comfortable and that the events run smoothly and seamlessly.
- This position will receive cross training in basic Box Office operations and provide support as assigned, including ticket sales, phone coverage, will call and assisting patrons with ticket questions.
- Communicate directly with the Stage Manager and Box Office via radio to coordinate each event from start to finish, this includes the opening of the house, holding the curtain for late arrivals, signaling when the event can begin, managing intermission and opening doors for the end of the event.
- Serving as a lobby attendant during an event. This includes greeting patrons as they arrive for an event, helping to answer any questions they have and then directing them to correct venue for the event they are attending.
- Serving as an usher during an event. This includes greeting patrons and scanning their tickets as they enter the venue for the event. Then assisting patrons with finding their seats for the event.
- This position has the potential for summer work opportunities based on operational needs and funding.
- Other duties as assigned.
All members of the Guest Services Team are expected to do the following:
- Communicate openly, effectively, and frequently with team admins
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Guest Services Team, the GPAC Box Office and the CAM Marketing Team.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with students, faculty, staff, and patrons
- Maintain the confidentiality of CAM information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Friendly and outgoing personality with a passion for the arts and media
- Experience in customer service
- Comfortable with face-to-face interactions with guests
- Capable of handling and working in a fast-paced event environment

Hours & Pay
- Starting pay of $10 an hour
- Position will begin in the Fall 2026. Interviews will take place in Summer/Fall 2026.
- Flexible schedule. Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. Typically, 20-28 hours per week. Hours may vary depending on event schedule.
- This position will be expected to work nights and weekends.
