Student Financial Services Coordinator
Summary of the Role:
The Student Financial Services (SFS) Coordinator supports the daily operations of the Student Financial Services office by providing front desk coverage and delivering high-quality customer service to students, families, faculty, and staff. This role maintains a professional and welcoming presence while engaging with diverse populations via email, phone, and in person.
The Coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for SFS-related inquiries and utilizes a working knowledge of SFS processes to ensure seamless and impactful interactions with prospective and current students, faculty, and staff. This position requires the ability to manage competing priorities, communicate effectively, remain highly organized, and maintain strong attention to detail.
A significant component of this role includes serving as the Military Educational Benefits & Certifying Official. The Coordinator ensures accurate and timely processing of veteran education benefits and oversees additional military-affiliated programs in compliance with federal and state regulations.
This position is part-time (20 hours per week), requires some evening hours and occasional weekend work, and reports to the Associate Director of Student Financial Services. The role works closely with the Senior Assistant Director of SFS, Military Services, and other enrollment and campus partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive, high-quality customer service to students, families, faculty, and staff
- Staff and coordinate front desk operations, including opening and closing the office
- Manage Student Financial Services phone lines and shared email communications
- Respond to general inquiries related to student accounts, billing, and financial services
- Process payments accurately and in accordance with university policies
- Maintain a professional, welcoming, and service-oriented front desk presence
- Serve as a primary point of contact for all Student Financial Services inquiries
- Maintain awareness of university administrative and academic processes, key contacts, and office locations
- Serve as the Military Educational Benefits & Certifying Official
- Ensure accurate and timely certification of veteran education benefits, including GI Bill and related chapters
- Administer and oversee military-affiliated programs, including ROTC scholarships, Tuition Assistance Programs, and other military-related scholarship support
- Ensure compliance with applicable Federal and State regulations, including those established by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Defense (DoD), and State Approving Agencies (SAA)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1–3 years of customer service experience in higher education or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive information
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle frequent interruptions
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to build relationships across campus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and the ability to adapt quickly to new technologies

Position Details:
The job grade for this position is Grade 3 N.
The expected wage range for this position is $25.64 - $29.74 which reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role.
