University College Birmingham (UCB) is seeking an experienced and compassionate Student Health Practitioner to join our multi-disciplinary Student Support & Wellbeing Directorate, supporting the health, wellbeing and academic success of our diverse student community.
As our Student Health Practitioner, you will provide high-quality health and wellbeing support to students, helping them to manage physical and mental health, long-term conditions, and health-related barriers to learning. You will also be UCB’s Lead First Aider and will be expected to attend first aid incidents across campus involving students, staff and visitors.
Working closely with colleagues across Student Support & Wellbeing, academic teams, and external health services, you will play a key role in promoting student retention, engagement and success through the design and delivery of campus-wide health initiatives, and the provision of health advice and treatment.
You will be a registered healthcare professional with a strong commitment to student wellbeing and inclusive practice. You will be confident working independently with children (16-17 years) and young adults (18+ years) in a fast-paced educational environment and able to manage complex, sensitive cases with professionalism and empathy.
Experience of delivering health care within an education setting and/or working with young people is essential.
For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Ben Pithouse, Executive Director of Student Support & Wellbeing.
This role is permanent, 30 hours per week, over 40 weeks per year (term time only)
