Job Description

The Student Hourly Assistant | TV Sports News Segment Producer, under general supervision, is responsible for curating sports news segments for the Panther Sports Zone and athletics coverage. Segment Producers will work with researchers, writers, and reporters to make sure sports news packages are filmed, edited and packaged for broadcast.

Responsibilities

• Assign sports news package assignments to reporters.
• Assign special interest segments to field reporters and anchors.
• Assist the Sports News Director in administrative duties.
• Take daily roll for crew and talent.
• Direct the daily sports news broadcast.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Presently enrolled for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done. Must be in academic good standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA. No prior experience necessary. For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least six (6) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours or nine (9) graduate semester hours for the upcoming fall term.

Preferred Education and Experience

Junior or Senior classification. Communications Major. News room production experience.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Exceptional writing skills. Capable of supervising news team members, interns and volunteers. Knowledge of sports.
