Job Summary
The student interns will be responsible for the following:
- Nutrients and water budget management using Novel Sensor Technology
- Unlocking Synergies: Biochar-manure co-incubator for improving phosphorus availability and drought resilience
- Enhancing Soil Health and Crop Productivity for Small-Scale Horticultural Production in Mississippi
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
The student interns should possess the following:
- Ability to work in the field and have basic laboratory knowledge.
Essential Job Functions
The essential functions for the Student Interns consist of the following:
- Assist with sampling of soil and waters samples
- Assist with laboratory biochemical and microbial assays
- Assist with data entry and analysis
- Assist with all crop production practices
- Assist with processing of all samples collected
- Assist with harvesting of crops
- Assist graduate students in their field work
- Assist with the upkeep of the research facility and all farm equipment
- Present research at professional meetings.
Qualifications
Student Research Assistant must possess the following:
- Ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods
- Occasional ability to lift, carry and put away items weighing up to 25 pounds
- Normal physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job, taking distance and speed into account
- Normal physical agility, which includes ability to maneuver body while in place
- Normal physical strength to handle routine office materials and tools
- Normal dexterity of hands and fingers
- Normal coordination, including eye-hand, hand-foot
- Normal endurance
Posted Salary Range
$10.00 per hour
